MEET THE UANDES MUSEUM OF ARTS

The Arts Museum of the Universidad de los Andes was inaugurated on 2010, with a collection of pieces donated by María Loreto Marín Estévez, with the purpose of making it available for the public, promoting it´s appreciation, restauration, investigation and conservation.

The sample is composed by 188 pieces divided in two sections, Russian icons from the XVIII to the XX century, and paintings, sculptures and south American “fanales” of the colonial period.

The preservation of this heritage has inspired the institutional mission of our arts museum, that aims up to increase its collection with new pieces. This allows a more integrative view of the visual arts and generates a dialogue of art and culture open to society, through the permanent exhibition, conferences and educational programs.

At the eaves of our Museum of Arts are also held various exhibitions that bring together both young talents of the national plastic, and samples of cultural artistic heritage.

CAMERATA EDUCA

The Camerata Educa project was born in 2011 on the initiative of Eduardo Browne and Marta Viviani, Deputy Director of Cultural Outreach at Universidad de los Andes. Carmen Lavanchy, who joins in 2012, contributes with her knowledge of music and education, strengthening the project's objective: to awake interest in music at a young age, and in a playful and interactive way to introduce children to the world of sounds. They are concerts in which the public actively participates, singing, clapping, following the musicians and instruments in their musical adventure. Presenters and musicians play the role of mediators between the music and the auditor, bringing it closer, inviting them to get to know it, participate with it and unravel its secrets. The resource of humor is used as a vehicle for contact, knowledge and enjoyment of sounds and music.

In 2017, the Camerata Educa project was awarded a fund from the Council for Culture, Promotion of Art in Education (FAE).
